Set of Pentominoes, 60 pcs., made from RE-Wood

Pentominoes is the name of the shapes that can be formed out of the five squares. The squares are positioned so that they have at least one side in common. Twelve different shapes can be created, named according to their resemblance to the capital letters F, I, L, N, P, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z. It is perhaps the instinct to play that characterises the interaction with Pentominoes. Mathematical correlations are made accessible in a very intuitive way.

Tasks using Pentominoes encourage pupils to debate and justify. They offer a wide variety of exercises and open numerous opportunities for discovery-based learning. The Pentomino set is suitable for assembling a number of shapes such as houses, towers, letters, ships, dinosaurs, elephants and more. It can be used to copy pictures provided as well as to fill in shapes with only the outline provided.

Tasks might include the following: establish that surface area is not equal to circumference, place possible right angles or which Pentominoes are symmetrically identical and show their symmetrical axes, and much more.
