Teaching climate change and climate protection in the classroom
It is clear that climate change is not imminent, but is already happening. That is why it is so important to sensitise our children to these topics in primary school science lessons and to teach them that the earth needs our help and they can also have a great impact to protect the climate and nature.
CO2, global warming, greenhouse gases and the greenhouse effect - you come across these and many other keywords when you think about climate protection and climate change. But what does climate change mean? What is the greenhouse effect? What impact does it have on the future of children? And what does outer space have to do with it? Questions like these and many more on the topics of climate protection and climate change can be answered with the help of our magnetic picture from our research workshop!
The magnetic picture shows the Earth with its atmosphere, the five most important carbon dioxide producers and radiation. You could, for example, explain the five main causes of climate change to your pupils in class and then collect first negative and then positive behaviours for each category with the children. In this way, your pupils will learn what they themselves can do to combat climate change and how they can contribute to climate protection. The positive examples can be displayed around the world or the CO2 polluters can be pinned to the board in five lines. The aim should be to conclude by reflecting together that each individual can do something in the fight against climate change.
Our project kit "Climate change: We protect our climate" is also ideal as a comprehensive all-round package for exciting projects on the topics of climate protection and climate change for children of nursery and primary school age. Your class can explore the topic of climate change and its consequences independently by carrying out experiments using the materials provided. With the project kit, your class will make their own experiences and the children will be able to see the connections between nature and the environment.
The topics of climate change and climate protection ideally suit education for sustainable development (ESD) in schools. The magnetic pictures help you to introduce children to topics such as sustainability, environmental and climate protection in a playful way!
Explaining space in primary school
The fascination of the universe: space, infinite vastness? There is no question that outer space is very big. As far as we know, the universe is infinite and has no boundaries. Starting from our home planet - the Earth - via our solar system to the Milky Way, the universe is everywhere. Despite these huge distances from our planet, the distant stars can be admired every evening when the sky is clear. With a telescope, they can even be viewed magnified. However, there are also celestial bodies that are closer to us and can be seen with a telescope, such as the moon.
Take the children on a journey of discovery of the universe at school and explore the earth, sun, moon, Mars and other planets with our giant inflatable planets. You can also hang this inflatable solar system in the classroom and use it as an interactive, hands-on hanging model to illustrate the features of the solar system. You can transform the classroom into an exciting interstellar space and turn your pupils into little astronauts.
Our rotating solar system with an integrated engine can also be used to bring the fascination of space closer in an exciting way. This model illustrates the movement of the eight planets around the sun. The fully automatic rotation of the planets can be controlled via a switch. You can also make the experience even more exciting for your pupils: By attaching the included star dome, you can project constellations onto the walls of the darkened classroom. The school becomes outer space and the children will be thrilled. This will awaken their curiosity and interest in astronomy!
