Our Pentomino set offers a versatile learning environment, consisting of a 920-piece RE-Wood® set and 18 accompanying template booklets.

A pentomino refers to a shape that can be formed out of five squares. The squares are positioned so that they have at least one side in common. Twelve different shapes can be created, named according to their resemblance to the capital letters F, I, L, N, P, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z. Perhaps the most distinctive characteristic of pentominoes is the playful instinct involved.

The 20 different templates can be modelled using the pentominoes. The illustrations are original size, which means that the pentominoes can also be placed directly on the illustrations. This helps students check their own results.

Playing with pentominos not only encourages the urge to play, but also enables an intuitive understanding of mathematical relationships. The set encourages students to debate and justify, offers a wide variety of exercises and opens numerous opportunities for discovery-based learning.
From freely assembling shapes such as buildings, towers and letters to more challenging tasks such as re-creating specific pictures, or identifying pentominoes with mirror symmetry — the set offers a broad range of learning opportunities.

Packed in 18 individual boxes and including detailed instructions, the pentomino sets are not only an entertaining added accessory, but also an educational tool for maths lessons.

They are supplied together with the template booklets in a plastic box.

This consists of scrap wood from German production and a binding agent (in a ratio of 80 to 20) and is therefore produced in a sustainable way. It is 100% recyclable, PEFC-certified and non-toxic. This ensures a responsible and effective approach to recycling.
