Each pupil booklet (six pages) begins with a short scene, in which the 5 main characters (Siggi Sun, Wiebke Wind, Nelly Network, Paul Power, Grandpa Glühbert) discuss the subject matter in the booklet. This introduces each chapter and motivates the children to engage with the topic. The 5 main characters also turn up regularly within each topic to give the children tips or to describe interesting aspects of the relevant subject they represent, e.g. how many houses can be supplied with power using wind or solar energy. The main characters are: clever Wiebke Wind, who understands power very well with Siggi Sun, her little brother. He sometimes doesn't think things through quite enough. The third member of the gang is Paul Power, he likes to eat and is strong and dependable. The friends' favourite place to meet is at Nelly Network's place. Her heart is always in the right place, she is full of good ideas and she likes it when everyone plays with her. Grandpa Glühbert is 135 years old and, as a light bulb, he experienced the invention of electricity and its development and use.
