- Detailed product description
At first glance, rocket propulsion and air balloons do not have anything in common. The balloon is blown up, the outlet opening is closed with your finger, set it up and remove your finger. The thrust created by the air streaming out causes the vehicle to accelerate. This offers a physical explanation of Newton's 3rd law of motion (for every force there is an equal and opposing force).
This jet force principle can be seen in the natural world too. Squid and jellyfish use it in order to move. Heron von Alexandria deployed the jet force principle combined with steam in his machine, known as the wind ball or Aeolipile.
