Window Crawler "Starfish", approx. 10 cm

What´s wobbling and crawling on the window? It´s the "Starfish" window crawler!

Throw it and see it crawl! Amazing! It's not crazy, it's pure bionics in action! These starfish window crawlers show how a natural biomechanical phenomenon is transferred to technology. The crawler is quite heavy, yet adhesive forces on the starfish´ arms allow it to move down a smooth surface vertically using gravity.

If you throw a starfish on to a smooth surface, it will stick to itl After a few seconds, children can watch the starfish slowly moving down, its legs moving around in a fun way. Very easy to use, anyone can try it out!

The window crawler looks simple, but: natural structures and functions inspired innovative plastics with special properties. These materials are very useful for the development of robots, probes or spacecraft that need to move about on different surfaces or stick on them.
