The bird puzzle consists of 6 wooden pieces that represent the parts of a bird.

Maria Montessori believed in holistic education. The zoological and botanical puzzles improve and develop the child's eye-hand coordination, focus and concentration.
Lifting the pieces with the knobs strengthens fine motor skills and prepares the hand for holding a pencil. Finding the right place for the puzzle piece promotes cognitive skills and problem-solving behavior.

One of the basic Montessori activities is the wooden zoological puzzles. The complete traditional Montessori zoology curriculum includes 6 puzzles. Each puzzle represents a specific class of vertebrate, in this case the bird puzzle represents the birds.

These puzzles are brightly colored to attract the child. Indirectly, they learn about the main body parts of the animal through the shape of the puzzle pieces.
