- Detailed product description
The drawing spinning top – a true artist among spinning tops!
This sophisticated drawing spinning top is made of beech and has a pencil lead as its tip. As it spins on the page, it makes fabulous intricate patterns and circular shapes. The patterns appear to be created by chance. But in fact, they follow the regular patterns of the three circular movements.
The patterns can be coloured in and decorated as desired by the children. The spinning top is also ideal for circle games such as slalom drawing etc. Included in the scope of delivery are 3 replacement pencil leads, so you can change the tip, and a set of instructions including ideas for games.
Interesting information:
The spinning top is originally a children's toy that balances on one point after being rotated around an axis. In physics, the gyroscope is a (rigid) body that is fixed at one point but is otherwise free to move and rotates around the fixed point. Gyroscopes in physics do not necessarily exhibit rotational symmetry. Since the contact point for a spinning top is not fixed, this does not represent a gyroscope in the physical sense.
The spinning top is one of the oldest toys and has been found in archaeological sites. In addition to its use as a toy, the spinning top was also used historically for games of chance and fortune telling. Gyroscopes are used in technology, for example for stabilisation and navigation, because their axis of rotation remains constant as long as no force is exerted on them. The reason for this is the conservation of angular momentum.
