Whirlpool in a Bottle, 6 pcs.

Create your own whirlpool effect (tornado) in a bottle. All you will need in addition is two water bottles (1 empty bottle and 1 filled with tap water) and you can get started. The set contains a plastic whirlpool connector and 5 colour tablets (red, yellow and blue).

The whirlpool effect works best with 1.5 or 2 litre plastic bottles made from PET. It is best not to use glass bottles because of the risk of breakages.

Fill one bottle about 3/4 full and connect both bottles using the CycloneScience connector. Use a circular movement to get the liquid rotating, and a whirling effect is created. Depending on the direction of the initial movement, you can either create a whirlpool that rotates to the left or the right.

Two kinds of whirling effects can be distinguished, depending on how fast the liquid in the bottle is rotating:
- wide, calm, stable, gentle whirling
- narrow, less calm, bubbling and rather unstable whirling, which can cancel itself out.

In 2 litre bottles, these whirling effects can be observed for up to 30 seconds. The whirlpool is not always smooth and can have overlapping structures. If you tip the bottle slightly to one side once the vortex has been formed, it will bend slightly or possibly be broken off.
