- Detailed product description
First position desired number of green cones. Then count out a certain number of beads aloud. The teacher then assigns beads to each cone in order from left to right. When one row is full, the next row is used. If a row is incomplete, the number of beads in this row signifies the remainder. At 19 beads and 5 cones, there are 3 complete rows and in the last row, there are still 4 beads, the remainder.
Learning opportunities
Getting to know the basic problems of division (divisor and quotient are not larger than 9)
Method - didactic information
The teacher places 9 green cones on the board and asks the child to lay 24 green beads in the little bowls.
The beads are divided among the cones so that each cone always only receives one bead, then they each get one more. The rule of play is that each cone should always receive the same number of beads. The excess beads remain in the bowl.
"24:9; one gets 2 and 6 are left over"
The result is noted.
The beads are then tidied back into the bowl, 8 cones are set out and they are divided up again.
"24:8; one gets 3 and 0 are left over"
The procedure continues with 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 and 3 cones.
The divisibility of all numbers up to 81 can be understood by the child in this way.
