TimeTEX Addition Snake Game "Montessori Premium"

The Addition Snake Game introduces the child to the addition of number combinations.
The aim of the game is for the child to build a snake from the bead material or to look at an equation that has been written down for them.

The numerical values 1 to 10 in the form of coloured bead bars are first placed next to each other as an addition task. Then the swapping begins: For every full 10 counted, the child puts the coloured bead bars aside and replaces them with a golden ten bar. This continues until no more 10s remain to be filled, then the remaining unit bars are replaced by black and white bead bars. When there are no more coloured beads in play, the task is completed.

The material comes with 3 coloured wooden boxes in a wooden tray for sorting and storing the bead bars: gold for the ten bars, red for the coloured bead bars, and black and white for the black and white bead bars.

Learning opportunities:

• logical representation of addition with the bead material
• crossing the tens by counting
• recognise the structure of crossing the tens
• use subitising 5
